4 Warning Signs That Your Roof Needs Re-Roofing

Oftentimes, homeowners only assume they need re-roofing after spotting noticeable severe damages on the roof. While these damages are indeed a sign that you need to have your roof replaced, there are other factors that you should put attention to as well to determine whether you only need roof repair or a roof replacement.

  1. Roof Life Span

Normally, a typical roof can last a good 20 to 30 years, depending on the materials used on its construction. However, it is rare for roofs to last more than this period of time. So if you have a 35-year old roof, chances are you need to have it replaced with a new one. Even if it still relatively looks good for its age, you’ll find that there will be underlying roof issues just waiting around to be noticed.

  2. Structural Problems

Structural issues are something that needs immediate attention. It is also not something that cannot be repaired since structural problems with roofs often pertain to the foundation or other important structural factors that support it. Needless to say, the entire roof will have to be replaced. It’s important to immediately address these kinds of problems. Don’t wait for your entire roof system to collapse before having it replaced.

  3. Shingle Granule Loss

A sign that your roof is nearing the end of its life cycle is the alarming loss of granules. An indicator that your granules have worn away is the inconsistent dark color in some parts of your roof. And under this circumstance, you will have to replace pre-existing roof with a new one.

  4. Roof Mold

The growth of mold and mildew on your wall and ceiling can be a sign of a leak in the roof. If it’s not caused by plumbing issues, we advise that you inspect your roof system for any leaks. However, signs of mold and mildew will often mean that your roof’s leak damages are enough to warrant a roof replacement
